Referral Partner Terms

1. About these terms

These terms apply to anyone who registers as a referral partner with Lawmateanz, operated by LawMate Limited, a company incorporated in New Zealand. They apply together with our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. By registering, you confirm you are authorised to act for the organisation you name.

2. Free, with no rewards

Registering is free. We do not pay you, and you do not pay us, any fee, commission, rebate, credit or other benefit for referrals. You must not offer or accept any payment or benefit connected to a referral made through your link.

3. Links only, no personal information

You share a link. You must not send us personal information about clients or job applicants. People choose for themselves whether to use a link and what to share, and a client's consent is collected by Lawmateanz before their details are shared with any lawyer.

4. Messages you send

You are responsible for the messages you send that include your links. You must comply with the Unsolicited Electronic Messages Act 2007 (New Zealand) and the Spam Act 2003 (Australia), which generally require consent, a clear statement of who is sending the message, and a working way to unsubscribe, and with the privacy laws that apply to you. We do not send messages to your clients, applicants or contacts. Only add links to messages you are entitled to send, and never suggest that Lawmateanz finds people jobs: it is not a recruitment agency.

5. Professional and funding rules

Lawyers and legal service providers remain responsible for their own professional obligations about referrals and fee disclosure in their country. Organisations with funding or contract conditions, such as community law and legal centres and legal aid providers, are responsible for checking that those conditions allow them to share a link.

6. What you may say

Lawmateanz is a directory and matching service. We are not a law firm and we do not give legal advice. Do not describe us as a law firm, do not promise any outcome, and do not say we endorse or guarantee any lawyer. Do not suggest that we endorse, or are affiliated with, your organisation beyond your registration as a referral partner. Requesting a lawyer through Lawmateanz is free for clients; lawyers charge for their own services.

7. How matching works

A referred client is never matched to the lawyer, or to any lawyer at the firm, that referred them. A referral link does not otherwise affect which lawyer is selected, and we do not guarantee that a referred client will be matched.

8. Your dashboard

Your dashboard shows counts only. Your dashboard link is private: anyone who has it can see your counts, so keep it safe.

9. Suspension

We may suspend or remove a referral code at any time, including if it is used to send unlawful messages, to mislead people, or in breach of these terms.
