For lawyers: why LawMate charges a flat fee, never a percentage

When I designed LawMate, one decision came first: lawyers would pay a simple, flat fee, and LawMate would never take a percentage of what they earn.

How it works

Joining is free. Your first client match is free too. After that, it's a flat NZ$250 a month, whether you get one client through LawMate or twenty. There are no commissions, no share of your fees, and you can cancel any time.

Why a flat fee

A flat fee keeps things predictable for you, and it keeps LawMate honest. Because our income is never tied to the size or outcome of a client's matter, we have no reason to push clients towards bigger cases or more expensive lawyers. Your fees stay yours.

What you get

A verified profile page, designed to be found on Google for your area of law and your city. Client requests from your region, matched to local lawyers first. The chance to answer public questions on LawMate Answers under your own name, with a Contact button on every answer. And a "Verified lawyer on LawMate" badge for your own website.

If you want back-office support, LawMate can also connect you with independent accountants, virtual assistants and cybersecurity providers who work with legal practices.

Telling your clients

Your professional obligations still apply to how you tell clients about the arrangement. To make that easy, your LawMate dashboard includes ready-made wording that explains it plainly.
